We are here to guide you on everything you need to know to go solar, and increase the value and efficiency of your property most effectively.

From first question to final touches and switching “on, we handle every step, so choosing what’s best for the island is consistently rewarding  for you and your property.

Who we work with

Residential Installations

From traditional Siasconset cottages to modern Cliff Road homes, we design systems that meet HDC requirements, are aesthetically considered and protect your property value for the long term

Residential Installations

Commercial Installations

Enterprise-scale solutions for Nantucket’s commercial properties. We handle complex permitting and stakeholder timelines.

Commercial Installations

our installations

Solar panels, battery backup, and EV chargers all under one installation.

We created the infrastructure we wanted to see on the island, using the best of American-made high-quality products.

Panels

Silfab
North American–made
Premium tier
30-yr product + performance warranty

Qcells
North American–made
Value-premium
Proven track record

Inverters

SolarEdge
DC-coupled architecture
PV and battery share the DC bus, so battery charging is single-conversion (higher round-trip efficiency) and every panel is optimized at the module level.
~90% US-made
Our standard

Enphase
microinverter alternative: distributed
25-yr warranty
Sunlight backup

Racking

Iron Ridge
UL-listed all black aluminum rail, corrosion-resistant hardware for salt air.
Rooftop racking is usually installed using the FlashFoot2 attachment system, which incorporates integrated mechanical flashing to provide long-term roof protection and minimize the risk of water intrusion. ACK Smart considers mechanically flashed roof attachments to be a best practice for rooftop solar installations, particularly in harsh marine environments.  We review every roof and substructure to determine the best application for your project.

Storage

SolarEdge Home Battery
DC-coupled with the SolarEdge inverter (single-conversion efficiency)
grid-tied backup
single-vendor

intentional design

Every site is different. Especially here on Nantucket.

The homes on this island are designed with intention. Your solar system should be too. Roof pitch, open land, mature vegetation, harbor views, neighbor sightlines, HDC considerations: we assess all of it before a panel is placed. For rooftop systems, we follow the natural geometry of your roofline so the array reads as intentional, not incidental. When the roof isn't the right fit, a ground-mounted system can be sited low and oriented true south, tucked behind natural grade or vegetation so it's barely visible from the road or the water. The goal is always the same: a system your neighbors might not notice, but your utility bill certainly will.

How it Works

From first call to first kilowatt

Every ACK Smart installation follows the same five-step process with our team handling permits, HDC submissions, and utility interconnection so you don’t have to.

Typical timeline
6–12 weeks from assessment to switch-on. HDC approval determines the timeline. Our 75% first-submission success rate keeps projects on schedule. We’ll give you a project-specific timeline at your assessment.
