Zach Dusseau
Zach founded ACK SMART in 2011 with the mission to bring energy efficiency and renewable energy services to Nantucket. With the understanding that building a business takes time, ACK SMART’s roots were established through working with island businesses to bring efficient LED lighting technologies into their showrooms and retail spaces, reducing their lighting energy needs by upwards of 90%. Simultaneously he began building his solar resume as a designer and PV integrator for a net-zero homebuilder on a number of high profile projects across the state. This dual approach provided him entry into the energy sector and the foundational skills to deploy successful projects for ACK SMART’s future Nantucket clients. As momentum grew in the renewable energy sector, ACK SMART evolved organically into Nantucket’s premier local solar, battery storage, and EV charging integrator, serving the island’s community exclusively. Zach holds an Unrestricted Construction Supervisor License, a Hoisting Engineer License, is OSHA 30 certified, and leads and manages ACK SMART’s integration teams with thousands of hours on client rooftops. Zach has made Nantucket his home since 2009 and lives here with his wife, their newborn daughter, and rescue dog Yasi. When he's not on a job site, you'll find him surfing, sailing, biking, or out enjoying the open spaces and water front that make island life so special.

Tobias Glidden
Born and raised on Nantucket, Tobias was the island's youngest Selectman and brings a rare ability to connect people and get projects done, honed through his work on the Neighborhood First Program that helped kickstart the island's affordable housing solutions. During his time on the Select Board, he worked on renewable energy policy and the issues shaping the island's future. At ACK SMART, he serves as Director of Sales and is usually a client's first point of contact during onboarding. He has personally attended over 600 HDC meetings on the company’s behalf. An 8th-generation Nantucketer, Tobias sails his catboat, Espere, around the island and beyond, and has spent a decade in construction, masonry, and carpentry working on some of the island's most historic homes, including the ACK SMART shanty office itself, which has been in his family since 1856… Stop by next time you're grabbing an ice cream across from the juice bar.

Tim Carruthers
Tim brings more than 30 years of leadership experience in software engineering, technology operations, and business management to the team. Before entering the clean energy sector, he spent much of his career leading engineering organizations at companies including Digital Equipment Corporation, Netegrity, e-Dialog, and Nasdaq, with a focus on large-scale enterprise software, security, cloud technologies, and operational excellence. In recent years, he has helped guide ACK SMART through several phases of growth, helping establish the company as Nantucket's leading provider of solar PV and battery backup systems. Tim works closely with the leadership team on company strategy, operations, customer experience, and complex system design, with a particular interest in energy resilience, and is passionate about helping the island transition toward a more sustainable and resilient energy future while preserving the character that makes Nantucket special. Outside of work, he enjoys golf, piano, and time with family and friends, and brings a practical, thoughtful perspective (and the occasional bit of humor) to the world of clean energy.

Henry Dickson
Henry brings a background in construction, carpentry, and surveying to his work at ACK SMART, where he manages all permitting from the moment a contract is signed until the system is turned on, overseeing scheduling along the way. A washashore whose connection to Nantucket goes back to his grandmother, who first started visiting in the 1950s before buying a house on the island, Henry has been coming here his whole life and put down roots after meeting his wife and starting a family here. He and his wife are deeply eco-conscious, building their own beach picker-uppers and collecting trash every time they're at the shore, as well as composting, and growing their own vegetables. Around the office, he's known as the face behind the permits.

Henry Farrell
With over a decade of full-time electrical experience, Henry brings a deep understanding of electrical contracting and construction to every project. At ACK SMART, he designs, manages, and installs solar PV and battery backup systems, auditing future jobs, designing electrical systems, and completing permitting with the Town of Nantucket and National Grid. Born and raised on the island, Henry now enjoys it alongside his wife, and daughter, spending his free time with family, relaxing outside, and learning new things. His licenses and certifications include MA Master Electrician, MA Journeyman Electrician, SolarEdge PV and Battery Installer, Generac Battery Installer, SAVANT Battery Installer, Enphase PV Installer, ChargePoint EV Car Charger Installer, OSHA 10 Safety Training, and Lutron Lighting Control.

Nate "Natty" Davidson
Nate has worked in Nantucket's commercial and residential electrical industry for six years, including several projects alongside ACK SMART before formally joining the team as a solar system electrician. Born and raised on the island, he left only for college before returning for good. Outside of work, he plays hockey and racquet sports, cooks, and always seems to have a project on the go; he's also a NAUI Advanced Scuba diver.

Steve Palenski
Steve has been with ACK SMART for almost three years, installing the mechanical and structural components of the solar arrays. He moved to Nantucket at age 9, spent a few years in Colorado, and has been back on island full time for the past decade. In his off time, he plays disc golf, competing in a couple of off-island tournaments each year.
Sasha Rives
Sasha has three years of solar experience and holds SolarEdge's Expert Installer, Monitoring Technical Training, Support Technical Training, and Home Battery Training certifications, along with Generac certification for installation and maintenance. Born and raised on Nantucket, he works across maintenance, design, and installation, and spends his free time biking, hiking, and at the beach.
Javed Frazer
Javed is a hands-on solar technician with ACK Smart, working in the field to prepare rooftops and get arrays installed on the ground. His path to Nantucket began in 2014, when his father brought him to the island from Jamaica. He fell in love with it immediately, and made the move permanent in 2017.
Outside of work, he plays soccer with a group from the local community, a standing tradition that keeps him connected on and off the island.
For Javed, the mission behind his work is simple: "Renewable energy is true energy.
Reuben Eldridge
ACK SMART is Reuben's first job, where he works as an installation technician. Born and raised on Nantucket, he holds an OSHA 10 certification and spends his free time immersed in the island's wilderness.
Joel McPherson
Joel brings experience in electrical installations and solar work from Jamaica, where he and his wife met before relocating to Nantucket together in 2025, and marrying on the island. At ACK SMART, he works as a maintenance support technician and holds a Level II Certified Electrical Installer license from Jamaica, along with SolarEdge and Generac certifications for installation and maintenance. He plays soccer with colleagues at Nobadeer Farms twice a week.

Will Grieder
Will previously worked at the Hy-Line docks before joining ACK SMART's installation team. He is an islander through and through, with a love of computers.

Heather Kennedy Magbie
Classically trained in Environmental and Interior Design, Heather also owns and operates her Nantucket interior design firm Isle Designs. Making a positive impact on the environment has always been at the core of her work, and joining ACK SMART in 2020 was a natural extension of that mission. She's called Nantucket home year-round since 2016. When she's not designing solar systems, you'll find her outside with her kids and their dog, exploring the beaches, walking the conservation trails, and biking.

Marian Ray
Marian has worked in administration and operations on Nantucket since 2014, bringing more than a decade of experience in office management, business operations, and organizational leadership. Before joining ACK SMART, she spent years in property management and construction, overseeing complex operations for growing local businesses. Behind the scenes, Marian keeps all the moving parts of ACK SMART running together, from billing and invoicing to scheduling, data management, staff coordination, and project tracking. If something needs to happen, chances are she's BTS taking care of business. Marian has called Nantucket home since 2011, after meeting her husband in New York turned a planned short stay into a permanent one. A homeowner and mother of two Nantucket natives, she serves on the board of Friends of Nantucket Public Schools. Her college degree is in Theatre, and she remains involved in the arts through Theatre Workshop of Nantucket and The Dreamland. When she's not at work, she's volunteering with the schools, cheering on her kids, or barefoot in the kitchen cooking for family and friends.

Ava Rollins
Ava is the founder of Ava Rollins + Associates, a boutique luxury PR and branding firm, bringing 20 years of experience in international communications to the team. At ACK SMART, she leads public relations, brand strategy and graphic design, including the company's branding evolution. Based on Nantucket, with a second office in France, Ava is deeply embedded in the Nantucket’s business and civic community as a Chair of the Town’s Cultural Council.
